Galaxy S9 owners receive HUGE new features as Samsung continues to update its flagship
The South Korean technology behemoth announced the Galaxy S9 back in February, showcasing a host of new features that take it a tier above its predecessor.
Better camera performance in low light, a design that improved upon the fingerprint scanning gripes of Galaxy S8 owners and supercharged internals were all showcased before it released in March.
The S9+ offers superior screen size and packs an additional camera compared to the regular S9.
But now owners of both the S9+ and S9 are receiving nearly 30 new clock faces that will provide radical changes to their phone's Always-On Display.
A new application officially released by Samsung dubbed "ClockFace" adds the incredible new designs.
The clock faces can be applied to both the Always-On Display and lock screen.
Although the new designs will look great on both the S9+ and regular S9's gorgeous AMOLED Infinity Displays, the new app from the South Korean tech giant will also work with Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 devices.
All of these phones will be able to take advantage of the new feature as long as they are running Android Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0.
The designs range from digital faces showcasing the time, date and day, to faces that take a minimalist approach, only showcasing the hands of an analogue clock.
Once the new app is installed users will have to head to their phone's settings menu to apply the new clock styles.
Head to Settings > Lock Screen And Security > Clock And FaceWidgets > Clock Style and then slide down to the end of the list to see the new additions.
As well as new clock faces, Galaxy S9 owners lucky enough to be packing a Snapdragon processor inside their device, only typically available in US variants of the flagship phone, have now been given support for FM radio.
A new software update for the smartphone gave unlocked versions of the Galaxy S9 the radio reception.
Wired headphones are needed to utilise the new feature as they perform the role of the phone's antenna.
Users will need to download the NextRadio app and ensure they are in "basic/FM only mode" to make use of the new feature.
Samsung joined forces with NextRadio back in January to bring FM radio support to its smartphone lineup.
But until now support had never been provided to unlocked S9 and S9+ devices packing a Snapdragon processor.
UK models of Samsung's three-month-old flagship are equipped with the company's own Exynos 9810 chip that is equivalent to the Snapdragon 845 found in other models.
