Did Samsung just leak the Android 8.0 Oreo release date for the Galaxy S8?

Samsung will start distributing the long-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 at the end of February, according to a new report.

Online blog – and discoverer of all things Samsung – SamMobile received a transcript of a conversation between a Samsung Support representative and a Galaxy S8 owner, wherein the firm’s technical agent revealed that the launch of Android 8.0 Oreo for the handset is scheduled for the end of the month.

It’s not uncommon for Samsung’s Support department to provide false information, however – so best take the aforementioned timeframe with a fine grain of salt. That said, seeing as its exclusive Android 8.0 Oreo Beta Program is slowly (but surely) drawing to a close, we think it’s somewhat feasible.

Android 8.0 is tipped to bring a number of exciting features to Samsung’s latest smartphones, including support for Program-in-Picture, notification channels, adaptive icons and circular emoji. It’s also said to bundle a refreshed version of Samsung’s Experience – formerly known as TouchWiz – user interface.
