OPPO F3 Permanently Discounted In India For The Second Time

The OPPO F3 received a second permanent discount in India in the span of just several months and is now retailing for Rs. 16,990 ($266), more than 10 percent down its previous price tag of Rs. 18,990 ($297). The Chinese phone maker didn’t provide a specific explanation for the move but the discount is widely interpreted as a result of a combination of factors; seven months following its release in the South Asian country, the Indian market for mid-range Android smartphones has never been more competitive, with the OPPO F3 gradually losing its momentum in light of new competitors from various manufacturers, which likely played a part in its newly introduced price cut.

OPPO also recently revised its mobile offerings with the introduction of a new variant of the OPPO F3 Plus with 6GB of RAM and may have opted to additionally drop the price of the regular OPPO F3 in order to boost its sales now that it has another product with a higher profit margin on the market. The development marks the deepest permanent price cut received by the handset to date, with the OPPO F3 originally being introduced at a price point of Rs. 19,990 ($312). Following the revision, the device is now one of the most value-oriented smartphones with a strong focus on selfie photography in India. Like many of the company’s other offerings, the OPPO F3 ships with a single 13-megapixel rear camera and a dual-camera setup on its top bezel, entailing a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel one, with its imaging software coming with support for the firm’s proprietary beautification mode and various filters.

Other specifications of the handset are mostly characteristic of a traditional mid-ranger, with the OPPO F3 being powered by MediaTek’s MT6750T octa-core chip clocked at up to 1.5GHz backing its SoC with 4GB of RAM. 64GB of internal flash memory is also part of the package, as is a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB of additional storage. The handset boasts a 5.5-inch IPS display with an FHD resolution and a widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio. While the OPPO F3 launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it was updated to Android 7.0 Nougat earlier this year and has already been confirmed as being set for an Android 8.0 Oreo upgrade in 2018. OPPO is expected to continue its strong focus on India throughout 2018 as the country’s rapidly growing smartphone market is still showing no signs of slowing down.
