Oppo R17 unveiled with 6.4-inch display, 25MP selfie camera and 'water-drop' notch
Oppo has come out with its next offering, the Oppo R17. The company has released images of the new Oppo R17 phone on its own website and there are 2 colors in the picture, one is Neon Purple and the other is Steam Blue.
The brands previous smartphone, the Oppo Find X, which came with a pop-up selfie camera, was much talked about and clocked impressive sales all over.
With a 6.4-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with the screen receiving protection from Gorilla Glass 6, the screen resolution is 1080x2280pixels and the aspect ratio 19:9. The notch is visible on the display which is described as the Essential PH-1 type, pretty much the same one found on the Oppo F9 and the Oppo F9 Pro. The fingerprint sensor is underneath the display which is practically bezel-free.
An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor rated at 10nm will be the engine below the hood. It is combined with the Adreno 615 GPU. The RAM will be 8GB and the internal storage 128GB. A hybrid microSD slot to take the storage up to 128GB is also provided. The Android Oreo OS version 8.1 is the operating system.
The highlight of the camera section is the 25MP sensor in the front selfie camera supported by AI technology to click and edit pictures. The rear dual camera setup finds a combination of a 16MP sensor with a 20MP sensor.
The battery is of 3500mAh and fast charging capability is also provided. The full suit of sensors and communication options will also be part of the new Oppo R17.
It is expected that the phone will be formally released on August 18 and though there is no indication of when the phone will be launched in India, the indicative price of the Oppo R17 is around €460 (Rs 36,500).
