2018 iPhone with motorised parts like OPPO Find X and Vivo NEX?
The elusive chase for a complete bezel-less phone is already raging. The tech firms are focusing on producing phones with an increasingly higher screen-to-body ratio. And to make room for all the screen, some companies are integrating a motorised pop-up camera.
Vivo recently launched Vivo NEX which sports a truly bezel-less display with barely any chin visible, and a pop-up selfie camera. The smartphone has a motorised slider with the camera sensor, that moves up and down from the body.
Furthermore, OPPO also showed off its latest flagship Find X at an event in Paris. The smartphone has a striking design with a nearly bezel-less screen and slide-up camera system. OPPO claims that the device has a screen to body ratio of 93.8 per cent. The companies came up with an incredibly innovative solution, shaving the bezels off their flagships.
However, according to Express.co.uk, the upcoming iPhones will not join the new bandwagon. Horace Dediu, a known analyst, says that the “Motorised parts are a bad idea for many reasons. Slow, subject to wear, likely to be damaged, collecting dirt, not water resistant, distracting, costly. I can think of few ideas with less merit.” While Oppo and Vivo are receiving accolades for their unique design choices, Apple might never consider using mechanical parts. Instead, the tech giant will focus on the removal of the lightning port and SIM tray with its next device, as per the analyst.
While Apple did manage to get rid of the chin on the iPhone X, the notch still rests on the top. To beat the competition, it seems like Apple will have to eliminate the notch. But, one never knows, on what recipe Apple is working on. The Cupertino giant could implement the Face ID or the fingerprint scanner modules under the screen which will help eliminate the notch, allowing for a truly bezel-less display.
Besides, Apple will release its next iPhone in September with around three iPhones rumoured to debut. The first is said to sport a 5.8-inch display, the second could feature a 6.1-inch screen and the third could flaunt a 6.5-inch display.
