Huawei P20 Pro set to get one of the Samsung Galaxy S9's best features

owners are about to get a free extra feature on their phone thanks to a new update to the slow motion video camera.

Huawei appears to be adding a 960 frames per second super slow motion video recording mode to the P20 Pro triple camera smartphone soon.

According to an XDA Developers forum thread, Huawei P20 Pro users have already spotted the camera changes in an upcoming ROM.

Sony was first to introduce this camera mode and Samsung followed soon after with it on the and .

The Huawei P20 Pro already has a stunning triple lens camera for high quality photography but was lacking this video super-power.

It appears that the P20 Pro already has enough power to run the 960 fps super slow motion video capture mode, it simply needs to be activated in the software.

The way the P20 Pro does this, specifically, appears to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ in that it will apparently use a selection box to highlight the movement area.

This selection tool allows you to record the action, which takes place over little more than a few seconds, without having to get it exactly right using the shutter button.

Much like the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ super slow-mo video mode we expect this 960 fps setting will limit quality to a top end of 720p.

The camera updates don't stop there as the code also suggests there will be an improvement to the zoom interface.

Instead of a round icon, like the current offering, there will be a square which you can swipe to zoom in and out with.

The only other leaked feature in the new Huawei P20 Pro update is a security patch.
