Oppo Realme 1 Images, Specifications Leaked Online Ahead of May 15 Launch
Earlier this month, Chinese smartphone maker OPPO announced the launch of its new smartphone sub-brand Realme, in association with e-commerce giant Amazon. OPPO’s new sub-brand will focus solely on the online segment in India, competing against the popular Redmi series smartphones from Xiaomi. The first smartphone to be released under the new sub-brand will be the Realme 1, which will be formally launched in India on May 15th. Ahead of the launch event next Tuesday, the folks over at 91Mobiles have managed to get their hands on an alleged live image of the Realme 1.
Realme 1: First Live Image Leaked Online
The live image of the Realme 1 shows the smartphone from the back, highlighting the diamond cut patterns. As we speculated previously, the Realme 1 does seem to be nearly identical to the OPPO A3 in terms of outside appearance. The only significant difference, is of course the Realme branding towards the middle. Near the bottom, we can see the OPPO branding as well. We can also see the single rear camera with an LED flash next to it, a power button on the right side, and volume rocket keys on the left side of the handset. The Realme 1 will be available in a unique Black Diamond shade, as confirmed by the teaser page on Amazon.in.
Realme 1: Expected Price in India
The Realme 1 is expected to rival budget smartphones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1, Moto G5S Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), and more. While there is no word on pricing just yet, it is likely that the Realme 1 will be priced at somewhere around Rs.15,000 at launch in India. As we have mentioned above already, the Realme 1 will be available exclusively online on Amazon India.
Realme 1: Leaked Specifications, Features
According to the latest report from 91Mobiles, the Realme 1 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor, coupled with an impressive 6GB of RAM. The OPPO F7 also happens to be powered by the Helio P60 chipset. MediaTek’s Helio P60 is a 12nm octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz with an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, there is a strong possibility that OPPO will offer a 4GB RAM variant as well. In terms of storage, we expect the 4GB RAM variant to include at least 32GB of built-in memory, while the 6GB RAM variant could ship with 64GB of onboard memory. For further expansion, the Realme 1 will include a dedicated microSD card slot. As for performance, the Realme 1 reportedly scored 1,39,432 points in the AnTuTu benchmark. On Geekbench 4, the budget Android smartphone scored 1,524 points in the single-core test and 5,871 points in the multi-core test.
Since the core specifications of the Realme 1 appear similar to the A3, there is a strong possibility that the Realme 1 will feature a 6.2-inch sized IPS display with Full HD+ resolution. What remains to be seen, however, is if the Realme 1 will have a notch on the top. The A3 features a notch on the top and 19:9 aspect ratio.
In the camera department, the Realme 1 is likely to feature a single 16-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and support for 1080p Full HD video capture. On the front, the handset could come equipped with an 8-megapixel snapper with AI-enhanced selfies. In terms of connectivity, the Realme 1 will likely include support for Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/n/g/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Both the OPPO A3 and OPPO F7 smartphones are equipped with a 3400mAh capacity battery, so there is a strong possibility of the Realme 1 packing an identical-sized battery. The smartphone is tipped to come with an AI battery management feature as well, which should help extend battery life slightly. On the software front, Realme 1 is expected to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.0, just like the F7 and A3.
