Oppo Digital Pulls The Plug, Interdyn Already Planning Ahead
Oppo is pulling the plug on their digital operation in a move that will affect local distributor Interdyn who have held the account for the past 6 years.
Established in the USA 14 years ago Oppo quickly got a reputation for developing award winning products including universal disc players, spanning three generations from DVD and Blu-ray to 4K UHD and headphones.
In a statement issued this morning OPPO Digital pulled the plug on their digital business claiming, “It’s time to say goodbye”. It appears that Interdyn were aware of the development and had already started planning for the exit of the brand.
The Company said that OPPO Digital will gradually stop manufacturing new products, existing products will continue to be supported, warranties will still be valid, and both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair services will continue to be available. Firmware will continue to be maintained and updates released from time to time”.
Interdyn said that they have enough stock ordered to ensure fulfillment of Blu-ray players at current demand levels for much of 2018.
Sam Encel a Director at Interdyn said “We encourage enthusiasts to make their purchases earlier rather than later, as it is possible that demand will increase because of this announcement. Any OPPO Digital products supplied by Interdyn to our network of resellers during this period (and onto customers within a three-month window of shipment to the reseller) will have the manufacturer’s warranty period of two years guaranteed”.
