Officials from Samsung Renewable Energy Incorporated will be in Elliot Lake for a presentation, which moves up the time for a new councillor to be sworn in.

City CAO, Dan Gagnon, says they will open the special meeting tonight byswearing in Sandy Finamore so she can actively participate in the discussion with Samsung as a full-fledged councillor.

Gagnon adds possible projects with Samsung could include technology for solar panels for electricity generation and the development of an energy conservation plan for the proposed $41 million sportsplex.

Finamore replaces former councillor Connie Nykyforak who resigned last month.

Following the special meeting, a memorandum of understanding with Samsung is on the agenda as a bylaw for the regular meeting at 7:00pm.
