Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be ditching his iPhone for a Samsung Galaxy
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has signed a sponsorship deal with Samsung's Nordic branch.
In an ad theme called ‘What’s Next?’, the 36-year old Man United striker will test Samsung's products "in completely new ways."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has inked a multi-year sponsorship deal with Samsung's Nordic branch.
Starting in the spring of 2018, the Swedish star footballer will act as the brand's ambassador across the Nordic region with "the mission to challenge, test and promote Samsung’s products in completely new ways," a press release says.
Samsung says Zlatan’s innovative streak and his love for the latest tech motivated their choice.
"Zlatan is very passionate about technology and our DNA fits well in with his,” says Eva Carrero, Corporate Marketing Director at Samsung Nordic. "We're excited to see what happens when Zlatan challenges and uses our technology in new ways," she adds.
No more iPhone
The press release cites Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a long-time user and big fan of Samsung.
”Personally, I'm a tech freak. I want all the latest technology. Luckily, I'm now working with the world's best tech company so I'm in good hands” Ibrahimovic says.
However, when it comes smartphones, the footballer told Business Insider as late as August that he rocks an iPhone 7.
The Apple phone will now have to be swapped for Samsung's Galaxy-series, Eva Carrero confirms with BI Nordic.
"Absolutely. If you ask Zlatan today, he will definitely [name a different choice]. He will be using our products both on the go, and in his home."
Zlatan Ibrahimović has made himself a common sight on billboards across Sweden, having featured in ads promoting Volvo’s personal vehicles, Vitamin Well’s vitamin water and Dressmann’s clothing. He also has a cologne brand that bears his name.
