OPPO R15 Surfaces With Metal Body, Notch & Thin Bezels

The alleged OPPO R15 has just surfaced, as the company is allegedly looking to skip the OPPO R13 name, and jump to ‘R15’ this year. A new rumor claims that the company will not release the OPPO R13 or the OPPO R13 Plus, as the OPPO R15 and R15 Plus are expected to hit the market later this year. The reason for skipping the ‘R13’ naming could be the fact that a number 13 is considered to be unlucky in many countries, though that’s just a guess at this point. Both phones are expected to ship with Qualcomm’s yet-unannounced Snapdragon 670 processor, and a real life image of the phone leaked, along with several renders of the device.

All of the images are available in the gallery down below, and as you can see, the phone sports a notch at the top of its display. This notch is not as big as the one on the iPhone X, but it’s there, and because of it, and thin bezels all around, this device is definitely reminiscent of the iPhone X. A power / lock key sits on the right-hand side of the phone, while volume up and down buttons are located on the phone’s left side. The phone’s display sports rounded corners, and it seems like the device will be made out of metal. A dual camera setup is expected to be included on the back, as the provided renders suggest, while an LED flash will be located next to those two cameras. OPPO’s branding is also visible on the back of the phone, while three color variants of this smartphone leaked, Black, Rose Gold, and Purple. It is worth noting that the back side of the device resembles the OPPO R11s’ and R11 Plus’ back side, so it may be fake.

It is worth noting that this design differs from the one that leaked back in November, and it remains to be seen if the phone will sport a notch or not, as a design without a notch also surfaced a while back. The OPPO R15 and R15 Plus will likely sport 6-inch and 6.4-inch displays, respectively, while the two phones will probably ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, and a new version of OPPO’s ColorOS UI. It is worth noting that the OnePlus 6 will probably resemble the OPPO R15 and R15 Plus quite a bit, so whatever OPPO decides to announced will affect OnePlus consumers as well, at least that was the case last year.
