Samsung Suddenly Confirms Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus
Last week I exclusively revealed the final Galaxy S9 design. This week Samsung has now gone a step further by confirming both new Galaxy smartphones...
Picked up by GalaxyClub, Samsung has decided to break cover of both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus by publicly submitting them to the FCC for approval (link 1, link 2). And both have come through with flying colours.
We don’t learn much from either listing other than confirmation of their official model numbers (Galaxy S9: SM-G960F, Galaxy S9 Plus: SM-G9605F) but the pass does tell us both new Galaxy smartphones are very close to completion. After all FCC certifications are never requested until manufacturers are 100% sure their devices will pass in their final retail form.
With an early release expected, Samsung will precede its more radical Galaxy X with smartphones which incrementally improve on the industrial design of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.
Improvements include a higher screen-to-body ratio, dual cameras for the Galaxy S9 Plus, a retained 3.5mm headphone jack and centrally positioned rear fingerprint sensor. MicroSD will also remain (more details here).
Furthermore line up the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus alongside the revolutionary midrange Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8 Plus as well as the aforementioned Galaxy X and it looks like Samsung will start 2018 on the front foot.
Especially given Apple’s latest bizarre slip-up…
