OPPO A83 with 5.7-inch 18:9 display and Face Unlock goes official
“The A83 flaunts A.I beauty tech as well as face unlock that can unlock in just 0.18 seconds”
Earlier this month, OPPO’s budget smartphone – the A83 was spotted on Chinese certification website TENAA, and then showed up in leaked user manual renders. Now, the brand has gone ahead and made the A83 official on its home soil in China. The device is in line with what we have already seen in leaks.
To recap on the specs, the A83 comes with an 18:9 display measuring 5.7-inches diagonally and bearing HD+ resolution. There is a layer of curved 2.5D glass on top of the display. As for the processor, while the make is known, we do know that it is a 2.5GHz octa-core chip. The processor has been mated to 4GB of RAM, backed by 32GB on board storage. The storage can further be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. The phone runs OPPO’s proprietary Color OS 3.2-based on top of Android 7.1 Nougat.
In the imaging department, the A83 features a 13-megapixel rear camera accompanied by an LED flash. There’s an 8-megapixel selfie shooter up front, which offers AI Beautification technology from the brand. There is support for Face Unlock too, which scans 128 points on the face and promises to unlock the handset as fast as 0.18 seconds. For connectivity, the smartphone gets 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS, micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Wi-Fi Direct. A 3,090mAh battery completes the spec sheet of the handset, but it seems like fast charging isn’t included.
OPPO is offering the latest handset in hues of Champagne and Black in China. The smartphone will set you back by RMB 1,399 (~Rs 13,700) and will be up for pre-orders starting December 29th. As of now, there is no word regarding the launch and availability of the A83 in other markets such as India.</body></html>
