The Oppo F5 was first spotted on posters in a mall in Philippines, with a slogan "Selfie expert". A Philippine actor Julia Barreto unboxed the Oppo F5 in a video on her Instagram account with hashtags #CaptureTheRealYou and #SelfieExpert. The smartphone was later revealed in a promotional video launched by the company. The video showcased a 18:9 bezel less display and unibody design of the phone.

The company sent invites in mid October for a launch on 2 November with a tagline of 'Capture the real you'. The phone was released on 26 October in Philippines.

The Oppo F5 Philippines variant comes with Full HD+ 6-inch 18:9 display and an octa-core MediaTek processor with 16 nm chipset. Its beauty-iris tool ensures that your eyes will shine brighter in any photo.". The 20 MP front camera also supports a bokeh effect.
