Oppo F5 with bezel-less display, AI-backed selfie cam launching in India on Nov 2

Chinese brand Oppo is set to launch its next selfie-centric phone, the F5, in India on November 2. The F5 which seems to be a successor to the F3, which was launched in India in May, will not only focus on offering an AI-driven front camera, it will also boast of an edge-to-edge bezel-less screen - a first for BBK Electronics-backed Oppo. The phone is likely to be priced between Rs 20,000-30,000.

As per details shared with India Today Tech, the Oppo F5 will come with a full-screen FHD+ display of unspecified size. The phone, in addition, will come with an AI-backed selfie camera, "which will use artificial intelligence from a massive global photo database, to beautify a selfie shot." The phone will also come with an updated operating system so as to allow for a seamless full-screen and selfie experience.

The F5, it seems, is shaping to be a bigger release than its predecessor, the F3. The Oppo F3, to recall, came with a dual front camera system: one 16-megapixel standard lens and another 8-megapixel -- 120 degree -- wide-angle lens for group selfies. The F3, according to Oppo, used smart recognition to detect when three or more people were in the frame and automatically switched to wide-angle mode.

On the rear, the Oppo F3 came with a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus, Optical Image Stabilisation and LED flash.

Elsewhere, the Oppo F3 came with a 5.5-inch 1080p screen and an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor with 4GB RAM under the hood. The phone came with 64GB of internal memory which was expandable via a separate micro-SD card slot. The phone also shipped with two separate slots for two separate SIMs and was capable of running what Oppo called as Clone apps, which were essentially two different instances of the same app.

The 4G LTE-capable Oppo F3 ran Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based ColorOS 3.0 and was backed by a 3,200mAh battery with support for fast charging.
