Oppo F3 Diwali Edition first impression: An ideal gift for the festive season?
Oppo launched its latest smartphone, the Oppo F3 Diwali Edition on September 27, 2017. The device is the latest version of Oppo F3 that was launched in May 2017. The Chinese smartphone brand has already created a fan base for itself in India and is exploring new target groups with every new launch.
This time Oppo's target is the crowd of smartphone enthusiasts who love a great looking device. The Oppo F3 Diwali Edition comes in a bright red color and never fails to attract attention. Oppo also wants to convey through the smartphone launch that mobile phones from the brand make for a great gift this festive season.
The season of festivities has already knocked our doors and Oppo deserves some attention for its well-thought marketing strategy and for a device that has premium looks yet costs far less.
Specifications: Nothing new!
Oppo F3 Diwali Edition's specifications are no different from the originally launched Oppo F3. The device has the same 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display. The display has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and it boasts a pixel density of 401 ppi. The display of the device also has a protective covering of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The smartphone is powered by octa-core MediaTek MT6750T processor which is clocked at 1.5Ghz. The device has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage of the mobile phone is expandable to 256GB via microSD card support.
Oppo F3 Diwali Edition also has a rear snapper with 13MP sensor and dual LED flash. The front camera is a pair of dual lenses, one with 16MP sensor and the other with an 8MP sensor. The front camera setup has a wide angle lens and a normal lens for selfie lovers. There is no flash for the front camera.
The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 which was a disappointing factor. Oppo F3 has the ColorOS 3.0 UI. The device is powered by a 3,200mAh battery and it has micro USB 2.0 along with 3.5mm audio jack.
Design: All about the new shade!
Oppo F3 Diwali Edition is all about an attractive design with a bright and unique color. The smartphone comes in bright red color with golden antenna bands.
The front panel of the device boasts the dual cameras on top along with earpiece. The base of the front panel has the home button which also has a fingerprint sensor on it. The back button and multitasking buttons are placed on the either sides of the home button.
The rear panel has a striking Oppo logo engraved in the center. The antenna bands on the top and bottom of the rear panel are in gold color as well. The camera on the rear panel also has a golden perimeter as the periphery of the camera lens.
The power toggle is on the left side edge of the device whereas volume rockers are on the right edge. The speakers along with micro USB 2.0 port and 3.5 mm audio jack are at the bottom edge.
Camera: Well-tuned snappers!
The Oppo F3 Diwali edition has a 13MP rear camera and the pictures clicked by the camera are well lit and optimally saturated. Low light performance of the rear camera is also satisfactory. The smartphone has a dual tone flash for taking pictures in the dark.
The device offers dual front camera setup. Which means that the smartphone has two front cameras. The first one is a 16 MP snapper with a f/2.0 aperture. The other camera has a 120-degree field of view and captures pictures with twice wide angle view as compared to the first one. The wide-angle camera has an 8MP sensor and it captures pictures with a decent amount of detail.
The rear camera is also capable of recording videos at 1080p at 30 fps.
Performance and hardware: Performs well, no updates for hardware!
The device gets an octa-core MediaTek processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The specifications are enough to expect that the smartphone will offer smooth multitasking capabilities. The original Oppo F3 launched in May 2017 can also pull through some intense games and with no difference in the configuration of the two smartphones we can safely assume that Oppo F3 Diwali Edition will have the same processing prowess.
The device uses micro USB 2.0 for charging and physical connections. It has a 3.5 mm audio jack on the base edge. It also boasts a fingerprint sensor on the home button which is very quick and performs without any delay.
Conclusion: Oppo aiming to boost sales
During the launch event of the smartphone, there was clearly an attempt to limelight the festive season and how the Oppo smartphones can be great gifts for consumers' friends and family. Moreover, Oppo also stated that the sale in the festive season of 2016 boosted the brand's sale in India by 70 percent.
This clearly suggests that Oppo is looking to boost the sales and double up its numbers in revenues. It has re-decorated a widely popular and well-performing smartphone to lead the Oppo's lot of popular smartphones.
The smartphone, on the other hand, is great to use and feels comfortable in hands. It will surely attract the attention of several by passers.
Priced at Rs. 18,990, I think Oppo will succeed fairly in selling out its products and boosting sales.
