Galaxy Note 8 Leak 'Confirms' A Nasty Surprise
Last night the Galaxy Note 8 was sensationally unveiled by acclaimed leaker Evan Blass (aka @evleaks). And now Blass has outdone himself by showing off Samsung’s massive new smartphone from all sides…
Posted to Twitter, the images show Samsung is likely to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 we all dreamed of as soon as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and their game changing ‘Infinity Displays’ were made official.
The Galaxy Note 8 takes this almost bezel-less design, enlarges it to a whopping 6.3-inches (the largest display ever to feature on a premium, mass market smartphone) and combines it with arguably the biggest omission from the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus: a dual camera. Given Samsung’s smartphone camera prowess, hopes for this are high.
But there is also one nasty surprise.
Blass’s images confirm Samsung has not managed to pull off the other big fan expectation: integrate the fingerprint reader into the display. A technological challenge also plaguing Apple.
Instead Samsung will again place it high on the back to the right of the phone, rather than in the more logical central/middle location of most rear fingerprint sensor sporting smartphones. This time it will at least be further away from the camera lens (something which caused needless lens smudging for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus users) as Samsung has moved the flash between them.
Speaking with Blass he was able to tell me that, despite looking like official press renders, these images were not obtained via Samsung so there were not part of the “accidental” leak pattern the company has been known to do. This was supply chain contacts and hard work.
Ultimately Blass has attained by far the best images we have seen of the Galaxy Note 8 ahead of its official release at the end of the month. And if Apple’s iPhone 8 problems continue, there’s every chance Samsung’s stunning design will deliver a hit proportional to its massive display.
No matter how high the price tag goes...
