Everything Samsung Just Announced At IFA 2017
The first wave of big announcements have come out ahead of this year’s IFA Conference in Berlin, with Samsung Electronics announcing a slew of new fitness-focused wearables, sharper displays and smarter appliances.
The Samsung Gear Sport
The product headlining Samsung’s IFA showcase this year was their new fitness-focused Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch. Boasting minimalist but practical bezels, the Gear Sport features a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display and intuitive user interface.
The device offers real-time heart rate monitoring, auto activity detection and support for Samsung Pay.
“With Gear Sport, users can work to achieve health and wellness goals, and receive nutrition management alerts and activity recommendations even when they are offline,” the company says.
Beyond the aesthetics and underlying health tracking potential of the device, Samsung are also talking up its durability as a point of difference over the competition. The company say it offers military-grade water resistance of up to 50 meters, making it an ideal companion for swimmers as well as sprinters.
“In 2017, fitness means more than just burning calories in the gym. Thanks to features like water and caffeine intake recording and auto sleep tracking, our new range of wearables are designed to help Australians bring balance to their lives,” said Garry McGregor, Director for IT and Mobile at Samsung Electronics Australia.
Gear Sport will be available in blue and black colors, accompanied by a range of easily changeable 20mm straps. Australian pricing and availability is to be confirmed.
